Anna Jones’ new cookbook, A Modern Way to Cook, is full of vegetarian recipes. The chapters are divided by the time it takes to prepare a recipe. Jones focuses on meals that use fresh, good for you ingredients and are easy and quick enough to enjoy on busy weeknights. She really stresses that eating well is a lot easier than you might think.
The book’s design is clean, simple and full of vibrant photos. After her introduction she begins with what kitchen tools she suggests to have on hand to make cooking a quick and calm experience. Then it moves into the recipes sorted by preparation times. Each recipe is prefaced with a few paragraphs about the dish. My favorite chapter is “Investment Cooking.” This section contains recipes for nut butters, breads, vegetable stock, etc. Foods that take longer to prepare but are kitchen staples.
There are a ton of recipes that I am looking forward to trying out but the one I am most excited about is the “Raw Cookie Dough Bars.”
Jones’ says it best, “wellness doesn’t come at the expense of deliciousness.”
