Eating in the Middle by Andie Mitchell

Andie Mitchell

I squealed with delight when I discovered Andie Mitchell was creating a cookbook. Her blog has been a favorite of mine for a while now and I recently finished listening to her memoir, It Was Me All Along. Immediately I knew I would adore her cookbook just as much if not more.

The pages are filled with soft homey photos of food and pretty tablescapes. You feel like you are taking a peek into Andie’s kitchen and sitting at her table while perusing the pages of the book. The photographer, Aran Goyoaga does such an amazing job capturing the recipes throughout the entire book.

Each recipe begins with an introduction which includes a small background story and tip about the recipe. I think this is a nice touch and truly enjoy reading them. Some of the recipes I am especially excited to try include All the Greens Frittata, Twice-Baked Breakfast Potatoes, Sweet Potato Hash, Lemon-Herb Fish with Crispy Oven Fries (making this tonight) and the Cashew & Basil Chicken Lettuce Wraps. I really had a hard time just listing a few…

My favorite part of the book is titled “For Sharing”. This section includes recipes perfect for inviting others over for dinner. One of my all-time favorite things to do is cook for family and friends. These recipes are the definition of amazingly delicious comfort foods. Foods that if I didn’t share, I might would eat all up and that would just be no good for my hips. Just sayin… So who wants to come over and eat some Cheddar Biscuit-Topped Barbecue Chicken Pie, Loaded Chorizo Nachos and Spicy Chipotle Chicken Enchiladas with me? Oh and if that doesn’t get your tummy talking, don’t forget the desserts, Peanut Butter Mousse Pie with Marshmallow Whipped Cream, Gooey Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie and Lemon Poppy Seed Cupcakes with Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting. So I’ll see you at 6 o’clock?

Take a peek inside…
